Hair Mineral Testing

Testing for Minerals and Toxic Metals

Hair Testing for 23 Nutritional minerals and 15 toxic metals

What is Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis?

Hair mineral testing measures the mineral content of hair. Testing is done by a licensed, clinical laboratory using sophisticated equipment and methods.  Hair mineral levels reflect the mineral content of body tissues and can indicate excesses or deficiencies in a person's body.  Minerals are the 'spark plugs' of life.  They are involved in almost all enzyme activity in the body.  Without enzyme activity, life ceases to exist.

Hair testing also reveals inbalances and toxicities and can play a key role in both the correction of body chemistry and prevention of physical disorders.  It is very beneficial for children as early detection of any deficiencies, inbalances, or toxicities can be corrected before disease sets in.  Toxic metal poisoning is a serious threat to our health.

A hair tissue mineral analysis is more stable and reliable than a blood test.  Blood test are subject to variations on a daily and sometimes hourly basis.  Also, the body tends to maintain blood mineral levels near normal at the expense of the tissues.  Hair is stable and provides an average reading of the past two to three months.  When you receive the results of your hair testing, you are better equipped to design an accurate nutritional program specific to your needs.  Minerals need to be kept in balance.  Proper nutrients can improve health, however, the wrong nutrients can worsen health. Dr Tamari of  Anamol Laboratories who does the hair testing was a pioneer in developing Hair Mineral Tissue Analysis as a reliable tool for assessing nutritional status .  Founded in 1978, Anamol Laboratories has been honoured as one of the most respected, nutritionally orientated testing laboratories in North America. Dr Tamari is a graduate of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem specializing in the field of Biochemistry.  He has held positions as Assistant Professor at the School of Pharmacy in Jerusalem. He was the Director of the Department of Biochemistry at Montreal Chest Hospital Centre. He was an Affliate of McGill University (participating in Cancer Research) and is presently Director of Anamol Labs, the first established laboratory for Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis Testing in Canada.

Effective October 24 2007 Anamol laboratories has become part of Doctors Data Laboratory while Dr Tamari is in such demand to do more teaching. The same great care will be taken with the hair testing by Doctors Data.
